Ear Wax can have a profound impact on your quality of life and cause a range of issues including:
Excessive ear wax can accumulate and block the ear canal, leading to partial or complete hearing loss. The blockage prevents sound waves from reaching the eardrum and can result in muffled or reduced hearing.
A buildup of ear wax can cause discomfort and pain in the affected ear. It may feel like a fullness or pressure sensation, similar to having water trapped in your ear.
Tinnitus refers to the perception of ringing, buzzing, or other sounds in the ears without any external source. In some cases, impacted ear wax can contribute to the development or exacerbation of tinnitus.
Ear wax buildup can cause itching and irritation in the ear canal. This may lead to scratching, which can further irritate the delicate skin and increase the risk of infection.
In rare cases, excessive ear wax can affect the vestibular system, which helps maintain balance. This can lead to feelings of dizziness or unsteadiness.
You may feel that your ear wax is visible to others, and will therefore have a negative impact on your own personal perception.
Our microsuction process is both effective and safe. In fact, it carries less risk of irritation and infection than traditional syringing. Here's what you can expect from your Ear Wax removal appointment:
We'll talk to you about your history and your general hearing health. We'll also take you through the process and get your consent to inspect your ears for wax.
Using a camera, we will inspect your ears for wax. We will also take photos of your ear canal to show you. With these photos, you'll be able to make a decision as to whether you would like to go ahead with the wax removal.
Microsuction is used to remove the wax from your ears. Unlike syringing, microsuction involves no liquid and instead uses a small vacuum tube to remove and capture ear wax in a clean, safe way.
If we feel that your symptoms are not just related to ear wax, then we will discuss wider options for your hearing and can refer you for a free hearing test.
